Bovine coronavirus (BoCoV) is a viral infection that affects cattle. It belongs to the family Coronaviridae, which also includes the human coronavirus responsible for COVID-19. BoCoV can cause respiratory and gastrointestinal disease in infected animals, leading to a decrease in milk production, weight loss, and occasionally death. The virus is transmitted through contact with bodily fluids or feces from infected cattle. In addition, BoCoV can survive on surfaces such as equipment, feed, and clothing, which can contribute to the spread of the disease. Symptoms of BoCoV infection include fever, coughing, diarrhea, and difficulty breathing. Treatment typically involves supportive care, such as fluid therapy and electrolyte replacement, to help the animal recover.
